Crispy potato slices and Mediterranean vegetable salad

Early this morning, just as it was starting to get light, I woke with the odd feeling of wearing a fur hat. It was, of course, Suki, who had decided that sleeping on my pillow was her new favourite place to be.

In this weather (currently yet another heatwave in southern England) the last thing I need is a hat, let alone one made of warm, living fur, so I reluctantly shooed her away. Five minutes later, as I started to doze off again, she sneaked (snuck?) back. Of course she did – she’s a cat. ๐Ÿ™„

Later on, at a more reasonable hour, I woke up again – before mum, for once. Deprived of her opportunity to hassle me until I got up, mum defaulted to “I should have got up earlier, I feel terrible” instead.

I did most of the packing for my trip away tomorrow (YAY!!! ๐Ÿฅณ), including my sweet cake birthday present which takes up a large amount of the space in my bagbut is totally worth it.

As always when she’s hot, mum started getting irascible, paired with the sort of short-term memory that would prompt even a goldfish to think she’s a bit forgetful. That meant I spent a lot of my day, between rolling up t-shirts to make them take up a smaller amount of space, telling mum that she has an appointment to sort out her teeth and head next week, and I will be back in plenty of time to go with her, and Lady Friday will still come and visit, and yes I know your teeth hurt and you have an appointment to see someone next week…

This evening, on the hundredth repetition of the “my mouth hurts” loop, I reminded mum that she has medicated mouthwash to use later. “I know, you keep telling me that,” she replied irritably. ๐Ÿ™„

For dinner I did mum’s favourite, crispy potato slices and roasted Mediterranean veg. The accompanying salad was apparently a touch frozen (I think I might need to turn the cooling down a touch), but she ate it anyway.

Tomorrow I am off on my travels. I may not do posts while I’m away, but I’ll post some food photos on Facebook so please pop in and have a look if you don’t usually follow on Facebook. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Otherwise, I’ll see you in a few days.
