A who’s who of the Pineapple Sponge World
Home
| Cat | Me, your humble correspondent. A disabled, non-binary (they/them pronouns), queer person and unpaid carer. I’m not like this just to annoy the bigots, although that’s not a bad side-effect! π [NB: I can’t tell you what my disability is, as no-one seems to know. “Rare genetic metabolic disorder” if the best anyone can do at present.] |
| Mum | My mother, obviously. She has Alzheimer’s, severe anxiety, and boundary issues. |
| Suki | Our cat. 12 years old, tabby, very rotund. And very gorgeous. |

Friends, family, and carers
None of these are real names, btw.
| BIL | My late sister Jen’s partner. An award-winning chef who lives on the mainland. |
| Chairperson | One of mum’s long-term friends. Was temporarily the chair of a short-lived volunteering project, which is where I got her pseudonym from. |
| Charolais | One of mum’s long-term friends. A cattle farmer, hence the pseudonym. |
| Jen | My late sister. Died during the pandemic as a result of complications from her disability (the same one I have). |
| Lady Friday | The respite carer who visits on Friday. And currently on Tuesday, too. |
| Lil | Our cleaner. |
| Preacher Man | The preacher at mum’s church, and another of mum’s friends. |
| Prunella | Our gardener |
| Social Prescriber | Pretty much my only friend on the Island. |
| Walker | One of mum’s long-term friends. A keen hiker. |
