Lamb koftas, giant couscous, roasted Mediterranean veg

Another groundhog day here.

I was awake for barely 10 seconds before mum was calling through my door asking if I was going to get up yet. She got herself some breakfast then, within an hour, went back to bed with a headache. At least I got a little bit of rare peace to read and make a fuss of Suki.

Then she got up again, and spent the rest of the day staring at the tv, interspersed with shouting random questions and observations at me, or laughing at me for… err… blowing my nose too loudly. If there is one thing I am craving, it’s to be able to carry out normal bodily functions without criticism or mockery.

This afternoon I missed a programme that mum wanted to watch, which made her oddly happy because it meant she could tell me how much she had wanted to watch that programme, every ten minutes or so until she forgot about it. Pretty much nothing makes mum happier these days than having something she can hold over my head.

For dinner I did a meal that mum has previously greatly enjoyed. Unfortunately I made the rookie error of telling her it was something she liked, which got me a sarcastic “yes, ma’am” and a refusal to even try the giant couscous. She did concede that the lamb and veg was “quite nice, thank you”.

Then she discovered I forgot to get her any more cream. And what’s even better than cream? A lack of cream for which she can berate me until the next grocery delivery.

So that was my Sunday, practically the same as my Saturday was, which was strikingly similar to my Friday.

Except with less cream, obviously.
