Chicken tikka fillets, tzatziki, flatbread, salad

Not much to say about today, really.

Mum has been up and down from bed all day, complaining of various aches and pains, and a lack of anything to watch on television.

This afternoon mum decided she wanted some apple juice, but couldn’t work out how to open the new carton. I told her she didn’t need to open it as there was an open one already in the fridge.

An hour or so later, mum came to me and mournfully asked if she could have something to drink soon. I reminded her that the juice was in the fridge whenever she wanted it.

“Can you show me?”, she asked pathetically.

Genuine confusion or weaponised incompetence? I can no longer tell.

We had groceries delivered today, so dinner was simply pre-marinated chicken, flatbreads, and salad. Mum enjoyed it, and thanked me for the food. Maybe my irritation was showing despite my best efforts.

Now I’m just counting down until I can retreat to my room and hide in my book again. Sorry, mum, but I’ve just had enough recently.
