Cheese and onion rolls and salad

It’s been a hot one today, and it’s only going to get hotter.

Mum doesn’t react well to hot weather: she has been cranky and contrary all day. She has been suffering from what I am pretty sure is free-floating pain, where she is aware that feels bad but her brain is no longer to connect the feeling to the weather so it manifests in random places in her body.

I find myself suffering from whiplash, with mum complaining about how much her head hurts, and is anyone going to help, and her head really hurts, and it’s so hot, and it’s just that her stomach is so painful, and wait – what?!

The only thing that will help, I think, is cooling mum down, but pretty much everything I suggest is shot down. (Although when I just mentioned this to mum, her immediate response was “no I don’t”, so I’m obviously just making that up for content purposes.)

The only one that has so far been accepted is the cooling pillow one of you suggested, which mum does like when I remind her of its existence.

Even the additional grocery order I made, to add more of the things mum likes – baby carrots, melon, sausage rolls, salad – was greeted with “as long as you don’t expect me to eat most of it”. I wonder why I bother, I really do.

And so I didn’t really bother with dinner: a pack of cheese and onion rolls (like sausage rolls, but with a cheesy, oniony mix inside the puff pastry) to go with the last of our current batch of salad had to do. Then mum had a toffee ice cream cone, a big bowl of tiramisu, and half a tub of coffee ice cream.

The struggle with cause and effect also applies to the mystery of why mum’s clothes are getting a bit tight. 😬

And on that note goodnight, don’t melt (if you’re in the affected area), and come on England (ditto). 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⚽️
