Tikka chicken, baby corn, salad, roti

I think I have discovered the trick of getting mum to church on a Sunday with minimal fuss, and that trick is to leave it as late as possible. I didn’t know until nearly 9.30am that Charolais would be available to take mum to church, so I didn’t wake mum until then in case the answer was “no”.

In the meantime, I snuggled with my tabby teddy bear.

No zoom used: she really was close enough for me to see even without my contact lenses.

I therefore had only about 40 minutes of chivvying mum to wash, dress, eat a banana, take her meds… did you eat the banana? Well, can you do that, please. The banana. You look fine – don’t forget the banana. You’ve got about ten minutes until she gets here. Don’t forget to eat the banana.

Then off she went, just in time to save me from yelling will you eat the damn banana!!

A young goldfinch (I think). No filter: the sky really was that colour.

Once mum came back from church, it became apparent that the theme for the rest of the day would, once again, be teeth. This afternoon I have repeated I will call the dentist tomorrow even more times than I said the word banana in the morning.

I am still unconvinced there is really anything wrong with mum’s teeth, but now she’s got the idea in her head it’s clearly not going to be dropped until I get her to another dentist. I’m hoping Lady Friday will be willing to go with mum during one of this week’s respite sessions, so my involvement can be purely remote.

For dinner I cooked tikka chicken sizzlers from Tesco, because I had to take them out of the freezer yesterday to make room for mum’s ice cream. (🙄) As I sat over the pan, mum started complaining about her teeth yet again, and I once again replied I will call the dentist tomorrow.

“You’re laughing at me,” accused mum.

“I’m not laughing at you, I’m just very bored with saying the same thing over and over,” I snapped back. I do try not to snap at mum, but it worked: for a good hour she stopped complaining about her teeth.

Extra berry for decorative purposes, and not in any way because that one escaped from the pot.

As mum doesn’t want the blackberries she insisted I pick, I ate them for dessert, piled prettily on top of a Bonne Maman blackcurrant mousse. The combination is delicious, which almost certainly means mum will decide she wants the second portion of both.

And so another day draws to a close. Tomorrow I will contact another prospective PA, do some laundry, liaise with Lil the cleaner,  and… hmm, I swear there’s something else I need to do. 🤔

Oh well, I’m sure it will come back to me. 🤣
