Peanut butter roll
Today was heading towards a ‘nothing much’ sort of day until, mid-afternoon, mum suddenly said that she couldn’t see out if her left eye. Mum gets migraines, but insisted it wasn’t her usual visual aura.
Much panicking happened while I called 111, and they decided mum needed to go to the urgent care centre.
I arranged a taxi, got everything together, called Tesco to let them know we wouldn’t be here to receive our order, which was due at almost the exact same time.
……and mum decided it was a migraine aura after all. 🤦♂️So I phoned 111 back to let them know we wouldn’t be going to the hospital, paid the taxi driver who had driven over from Newport (I didn’t have to, but it seemed only fair), and was grateful I hadn’t been able to get through to the delivery driver so we’re still got our groceries.
But as the afternoon went on, the visual disturbance stayed around, so I contacted 111 again, via their website, and was promised a call-back within an hour. That was two and a half hours ago, and we’re still waiting.
While we waited, I cooked chicken kyivs and chips, but decided while they were in the oven that I wasn’t really hungry. I was even less hungry after mum served up her portion of chicken and chips, and topped it with a generous portion of tiramisu. At the same time. 🤢
I finally made myself a roll with peanut butter, for the sake of getting some kind of fuel into myself. I didn’t take a photo, because it’s not exactly interesting.
For now, Mum has noted that the visual disturbance is there, but only as a tiny spot on her sight. I think it’s nothing that can’t wait until tomorrow, or until mum forgets about it, whichever comes sooner, but I’m not 100% sure so I want to speak to a clinician. By the time they phone, there’s a good chance mum will be asleep anyway, though.
So… here we are, waiting around. I’ll let you know what, if anything, happens next.
