Jacket potato with creamy garlic mushrooms and cheese
This morning started, as Sundays usually do here, with an early awakening of “is it time to get up yet?” panic from mum. I managed to soothe her back to bed for about 40 minutes, then Suki started “mwow-ow-ing” for breakfast.
Once she had had her breakfast, I headed back to my room and discovered1 that yesterday’s chivvying of the tomato seeds had worked: one pot had three little green sprouts, and another had one. I swear I could actually see them growing, popping up through the compost, straightening up, and calling on their seedy siblings to join them.
And they did:

The only pots without green sprouts atm are the ones with the pepper and aubergine seeds in, both of which apparently known to be the ‘slow starters’ of the plant world.
This afternoon, with mum getting fidgety because “there’s nothing on tv”, I dragged my weary self out into the garden, where I sowed rainbow carrots, oregano (my favourite herb), and mini sunflowers (for decorative purposes only). I didn’t plant courgettes, because I discovered I forgot to order any.
So back onto the seed merchant’s website I went, and bought some courgette seeds. And some cut-and-come-again lettuce seeds. And green beans, and rainbow chard, and a clearance-priced rhubarb plant2, and some mini iris bulbs. I might have got a touch carried away, again. 😬
For dinner I did the jacket potatoes that mum has been asking for over the past few days. I did some creamy garlic mushrooms with mine: mum was on a “I don’t really like mushrooms” day so she just had cheese on hers.
I may yet regret having cream and butter and cheese on my potato: it was very tasty, but my gallbladder may not be impressed.
Tomorrow morning we will be having a visit from the social prescriber who deals with accessibility issues. I don’t know what to ask her about, so any suggestions of what might be available for me to ask about would be appreciated. Thank you!
