Tandoori chicken salad with naan bread

Trigger warning: self-harm.

I will keep this short and sweet, as today has been exhausting.

As I think I mentioned the other day, I ordered groceries because mum kept complaining that there was nothing to eat (I swear it’s like caring for a teenager at times). Today the groceries arrived, and I tried to unpack them single-handed as mum complained that it was bad timing for things to arrive when she was feeling unwell, fell off my perching stool, and nearly dropped the box of eggs I was holding. (I know the kitchen floor needs a wash, but I didn’t want to do that to it!)

As I tried to put away the excess of lemon yoghurts mum insisted I order, mum wandered out to the garage complaining that there was too much food, and I lost my last shred of patience and self-harmed for the first time in over a year. I then went and rage-cleaned the bathroom, or at least the bits of it that I could clean without moving from in front of the sink full of soapy water. Mum asked if we were expecting visitors and, if not, was there any purpose to my cleaning spree?

There didn’t seem much I could say to that, so I finished what I was cleaning and went and collapsed for a while before preparing a simple dinner: frozen tandoori chicken with bagged salad and some naan bread from the cupboard (from Clay Oven Bakery, via Tesco, and highly recommended). The chicken turned out to be far too spicy for mum, so I had what she didn’t want and it was delicious, although I then had to have an apple to put out the fire in my mouth!

And there I will stop, with my customary abruptness, as The Repair Shop is on, and mum is well enough to be interested in it again and I want to share it with her. 🤞 the antibiotics continue the good work.

Oh, Cat, I wish I could give you a huge hug (and that I had something more helpful to say).
