Jambalaya-ish
Not much to report today, really. Mum has still been complaining of headaches, but she went out and did some gardening, and while watching the rugby, sang along to the national anthem.
This afternoon she did some tidying up and, failing to listen to my “don’t take that one, please, it has my spare meds in”, threw away the box that… well, had my spare meds in it. 🤷♂️ Fortunately I needed one of the spare boxes today and discovered the box had gone before the recycling bin was emptied early on Monday morning.
All of which seems promising to me that the steroid tablets are doing what they should be doing. I have had to explain why mum has a headache, over and over, until mum started saying “you’ve already said that”. She was right, of course, but I don’t know what else she expected.
When that got boring for her, mum started with “why do people hate me? What have I done to deserve this?”, which she knows (maybe not consciously, but she knows) always provokes a response. I’m not proud of myself for snapping at her, but mum’s “I’m sorry, I’m so stupid” was so carefully calculated to get my sympathy and paint me as the villain of the interaction that I felt slightly less bad about being snappish. 🤷♂️

For dinner I made jambalaya, from a Simply Cook kit, using prawns, sweetcorn, and onions from the snowbox freezer, as part of my new campaign to use up as much as possible before my very makeshift freezer closure system (a tea-towel wedged under the door) stops working even partially.
I only used part of each pot of spice mix, but it was still too spicy for mum. A couple of teaspoons of plain yoghurt sorted the problem, after which mum put the yoghurt pot on her tray and gave me the yoghurt-covered spoon to hold. The reason for that eludes me. 🤷♂️
Now it’s the usual tv and Suki being snuggly, then vanishing, then snuggling, then vanishing, and so on until I’m completely confused over where my tabby friend is. Oh well: as I tell mum every time she has an “I’ve lost Suki!” panic, she’ll reappear. At some point. Probably. 🤷♂️
