Potatoes dauphinoise with roasted Mediterranean veg and chilli baked beans
Not much to report for today.
The day started with an early wake-up from a spam phone call (I don’t think you can do DND on mum’s old landline phone); I went back to sleep, and entered a dream that finished with mum telling me “would you like a cup of coffee1?”
Yep, mum woke me up again, but brought me a mug of coffee by way of apology, so no harm, no foul.
I did the usual breakfast and meds round, including breakfast for a poor, starving tabby feline of our acquaintance. Then I did some work on the committee minutes, giving up when mum interrupted me for the fifth time in five minutes: the concept of “I’m busy and trying to concentrate” being one that she either can’t or won’t grasp.
I did get a phone call from the council furniture department, offering to deliver my replacement chair tomorrow, an offer I gratefully accepted. In the interim, I unboxed the folding chair I bought for gardening, hoping it might be low enough to tempt Suki to sit on my lap. It didn’t, but she did venture into my bedroom – she’s getting braver every day!
Dinner was meant to be a Simply Cook pasta dish, but I’m so wiped out that it ended up being another traybake dinner. Whatever would I do without my trusty baking tray? Suki disappeared back into hiding at the first rattle of the fridge door and hasn’t been seen since.
She’ll probably appear just as we’re going to bed again, which makes me and mum feel very guilty for shutting her away in the kitchen. Sorry, Suks. 😥
- Well, she actually said “a cup of tea”, but I don’t drink tea, and I know she meant coffee. ↩︎
