Cheese and onion rolls, chips, and veg
Another nothing sort of day here.
Mum woke with a severe headache, again, and an understandably sorry-for-herself mood to go with it. I got fed up with her “why isn’t anyone doing anything?” refrain, snapped that I was trying my best, then burst into tears. Not exactly my finest moment there. 😬
This afternoon mum retreated to bed for several hours. I could have watched some winter sports, but I somehow couldn’t find the enthusiasm for that, or anything else.
For a while I watched the birds in the garden – it’s so waterlogged atm that the blackbirds don’t bother with the bird bath and just bathe in the lawn (I’ll try and get a video of it as it’s very funny to watch) – then decided I really should do something and did next week’s meal plan and associated grocery order.1
Sometimes I enjoy meal planning, but other times (like today) I find it a massive pain in the posterior. I was just totally lacking in inspiration, which is why tonight’s dinner ended up being the cheese and onion rolls I keep in the freezer for no spoons days.

Mum, perhaps unsurprisingly, didn’t have much of an appetite, so I ended up eating most of the rolls. Even a touch of dysphagia2, another of the irritating symptoms of my condition, didn’t stop me polishing off the ones mum didn’t want.
Now I’m watching The Masked Singer, and hoping my latest guess proves accurate, as mum is always very impressed when I get it right. (This may well be redundant by the time you read it, but I think Conkers is Tom Daley. 🤞 I’m right, as that will be two I’ve got this series. Go me!)
- Which of course included coffee ice cream, even before I found one that mum apparently got out of the freezer yesterday then forgot about. The cardboard carton hadn’t leaked a drop, so good job whichever factory made it. (It went back in the freezer, where hopefully it will regain its frostiness.) ↩︎
- Difficulty swallowing, but you probably know that. ↩︎
