Chicken, ham and stuffing pie with green beans
I wasn’t going to post today as there’s not much to say.
Mum has had a headache pretty much all day but has mostly been able to ignore it. We haven’t yet managed to completely stop the painkillers, but mum is now down to only one or two a day on most days, which I think is good. Possibly?
I made the mistake of opening an electronic letter that had been sent to mum by the hospital, and found it contains details of a urology appointment early in the new year. Mum of course went straight into panic mode and told me to tell them she’s not going. I refused, because the next time her symptoms flare up she’ll be back to demanding to know why no-one’s helping her, and I’m not playing that game again.
I’m completely exhausted, to the stage that I’ll have to check tomorrow whether I actually wrote this post or if it’s just a vaguely remembered part of a dream. (I wish that was a joke, but it’s completely true.)
Despite my exhaustion I made my favourite bit of the Christmas feast, a chicken and ham pie, with a sauce of leftover gravy, cream, and some stuffing to thicken it. Mum declared it delicious, then added “all your food over the past few days has been lovely – well done”. Compliments from mum are, as you’re aware, incredibly rare, and I had to post just to share it with you.
And on that shocking development, I will bid you goodnight.
(P.S. – I also wanted to share the pie, as I’m rather proud of it. Looks good, dunnit? 😉)
