Triple cheese burger / sausage pasta

No post yesterday due to post-hospital exhaustion. After all mum’s panic, the appointment went pretty much as I said it would: walk in, book in, sit in the waiting room for five minutes, talk to the consultant for five minutes, walk out again.

We all agreed that most of mum’s health problems stem from her anxiety, and if that was under control everything else would sort itself out. The consultant therefore put mum on the waiting list for further tests, with the understanding that we can cancel at any time if we think it’s not needed.

The best bit of the trip for me was the gift from the driver of two croissants from the Lidl bakery counter, after the driver said she was going to Lidl while we were in the hospital and I commented on how good the croissants were. How kind!

Dinner was a cheddar burger from Tesco, on a cheese flatbread, topped with chilli feta dip and served with salad and proper Isle of Wight tomatoes. You just can’t beat them.

This morning mum was in a panic that she did or said something wrong yesterday, and it took me many attempts over several hours to convince her it went well.

Unsurprisingly, I have felt pretty tired all day today, and my plan to do nothing but recover was scuppered when my phone decided it no longer wanted to charge. 45 minutes, and lots of one-handed sketching later…

The great tit I was attempting to draw from life flew away, which is why some parts are a guess.

…I had signed up for a new contract with my new (refurbished, for eco reasons) phone due to arrive tomorrow.

Also due tomorrow are an engineer for take two of fixing our wifi, a grocery delivery, and a friend of mum’s who’s visiting the Island: mum, or at least her anxiety, didn’t want to see her, but I over-ruled her and invited the friend round for a cuppa.

So, a busy day tomorrow: all good busy-ness, but good stuff depletes the spoon levels nearly as much as bad. Thankfully, I have (or at least I think I have) planned an easy dinner.

(Tonight’s dinner, BTW, was sausage pasta (chipolatas roasted in the oven then chopped up and mixed with fried veg (frozen sliced peppers and half a courgette left over from another meal), cooked pasta, and jarred pasta sauce), which is a low effort, high flavour meal that I completely forgot to take a photo of.)

Currently all is calm, with rain pattering on the windows and my phone now happily charging (of course, now I’ve made urgent arrangements to replace it). I strongly suspect tomorrow won’t be as calm, but we’ll see.
