Sweet chilli chicken, roast Mediterranean veg, ciabatta roll
This morning I had to get up early (for me, anyway) to go for an appointment with a GP. Once I could have got in the car ten minutes before the time of the appointment: now I have to get the bus which runs once an hour so I have to be outside and waiting 45 minutes before.
Mum was up even earlier, feeling very unwell but not because she was worried about me going out, not at all. I consoled her that she could go back to sleep while I was out, which she apparently did as, when I called to let her know what time I would be back, I woke her up. Sorry mum!
My appointment turned out to be with an ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioner, I think), who was fascinated by my mystery condition and, I think, determined to be the one to solve the mystery. Accordingly, rather than following the suggestion of the doctor I spoke to last week to tell me to wear support stockings, she has put me down for a thorough blood screening for just about everything she could think of, along with a urine test for signs of heart problems. (Or maybe that was one of the blood tests. I somewhat lost track in the face of her overwhelming enthusiasm!)
Then I hobbled carefully down to the small Sainsbury’s to restock my treats stash, thought about walking a further 20 yards to the coffee shop but decided my legs weren’t feeling obliging so instead bought a can of Coke and sat on one of the benches on the roundabout / green space to drink it and wait for my bus home.
This afternoon was comprised mostly of doing as little as possible, as that little trip exhausted me. Mum, still struggling with the concept of chronic illness, suggested I try going to sleep at the same time she does. I have my doubts that an extra 20 – 30 minutes of sleep will make any difference, but maybe it’s worth a try. 🤷♂️
Dinner was the usual “throw it on a tray in the oven” thing, with extra chicken as the contents of the bag had frozen into one inseparable lump. That’s lunch for tomorrow sorted, anyway!
So that’s another thrilling day done and, without wanting to make y’all feel secondary in my affections, Only Connect is on and I want to fail to answer some questions. See you tomorrow. 👋
