Indochinese noodles

A quick question before I go further: has anyone else had problems with blog posts diverting to a scam virus protection site? I’ve had this happen to me a few times recently, and I’m going to contact WordPress support but would like to have data on the scale of the problem first. TIA, everyone.

I won’t say much about the start of today, when the possibility of attending church caused its usual maternal paroxysms of anxiety, which combined with hot weather induced irritability, to… well, mum apologised later, so we’ll draw a line under it and move on.

Mum later went out to attend the post-church refreshments, and I’m very proud of her for doing so. Her new determination to fight against her anxiety will be tested on Tuesday, when she has a hospital appointment at 8.30am. 😬 We have two other medical appointments at home this week, too, as well as DWP phone call for me, and a grocery delivery for both of us. It’s going to be a busy week!

Dinner was an adaptation of a Simply Cook recipe, substituing pan-fried chicken for the oven-roasted variety (because no way was I turning on the oven in this weather) and sweetcorn for the pak choi (because we don’t have any), and reducing the chilli paste down to a bare half-tsp, as it was hot enough to make even me cough!

I thought the end result was pretty tasty. Mum ate her portion without comment and with a certain grim determination that suggested she wasn’t as keen. My subtle attempts to expand the repertoire of food she will eat and enjoy goes on.

So there we go: another day done, and both my mother and I have avoided murdering each other.

(Although mum has already started worrying about getting to church next week, including her usual plaintive refrain “you will help me, won’t you?”, and there’s still an hour or so to go until mum goes to bed, so no guarantees it will stay that way!)
