Lemon and herb chicken, onion mash, Mediterranean veg

We have an anxiety problem. Or rather, we definitely don’t have an anxiety problem, we aren’t worrying, OK I’ll just stop talking then, humph.

Which is to say, mum woke me up repeatedly because she wasn’t feeling well and wanted to know why, then threw a “humph” when I told her. The problem is that she’s anxious (“no I’m not”, etc) about going to get her hair cut this evening, and doesn’t really want me to go either.

I obviously won’t go if mum’s really ill, but if I tell her that then she will be really ill. I’m not saying she’ll do it deliberately, but her subconscious will do whatever it takes for us both to stay at home.

Tonight’s dinner will be a ready meal (spicy beef chilli for me: three things mum hates (beef, beans, spice) in one tasty bowl, and a mild chicken curry for mum), so the feature meal is last night’s dinner of Sicilian chicken and mash, another Simply Cook recipe. It was very nice and pretty much faff-free, particularly as I used ready-made mash rather than cooking and mashing my own potatoes. Part of me feels that that is very lazy, but I really don’t have the hand strength now to properly mash potatoes, so needs must.

Dessert was a strawberry: just one as they’re big enough to eat like an apple.

Standard sized grape for scale.

So, anyway: happy birthday to me, it’s windy and it’s raining, mum keeps complaining, happy birthday to me.

Happy birthday to me, I’m running low on coffee, and now I must be off… ee.

Happy birthday to me?
