Quorn fillets and salad
I had plans for tonight’s post, but it’s getting late and I don’t feel great – a combination of uncomfortably swollen feet and a stomach ache that is probably the result of the chocolate ice cream I ate earlier (will I ever learn? Not as long as ice cream is tasty) – so instead this will be short and to the point.
I woke up early to discover that mum wasn’t feeling well, having once again literally worried herself sick. As usual she swore that she wasn’t worrying about anything, while worrying aloud about various things, which always leaves me at a loss: how do you help someone with their anxiety when they insist they don’t have it. (Later, once feeling better, she always knows it was anxiety, but while in the midst of it she can be almost aggressive in her denials.)
I had a shower – always a bit of a palaver now I’m disabled – then decided I didn’t feel frustrated enough so went and played on the UK government website for a while. I did some stuff on the DVLA section of the website, then went to the HMRC section and had to go through the process of confirming my identity all over again, despite having done it literally 3 minutes earlier on the exact same app. At least I was finally able to claim my tax refund so, when it reaches my bank account, I will be able to buy myself a nicer laptop than I had planned which will enable me to play The Sims do something productive.
We had a grocery delivery, made by a nice delivery driver with whom I swapped ice cream recommendations, then ordered a couple of things online. I know mum will complain again about the number of cardboard boxes in the recycling bin, but I don’t know how else she expects me to supply the things she asks for.
The items will be delivered on Thursday, which happens to be my birthday, and I’m really looking forward to opening my presents of a thing for putting lotion on your back (for mum) and some Epsom salts (for me – they’re meant to help relieve swollen feet).
Dinner was quorn fillets, which mum didn’t like tonight, and salad, which she did. Afterwards I sampled a new Ben and Jerry’s ice cream (brookies and cream sundae, which I highly recommend: that’s not it in the headline image, which is a stock photo, more’s the pity) which, despite being relatively restrained in consumption, has left me with a stomach ache.
And so, pretty much back where I started, I will end. And I will do the promised planned post tomorrow. Probably. Maybe?
