Cheesy tomato pasta bake
Today has been a good day. Mum was (and is) as mentally sharp as she ever is, and decided she was able to take a morning dose of gastrointestinal medicine by herself, so I woke up naturally at about half ten, which was lovely. Of course, that meant I didn’t call the doctor for mum, but I really will do it tomorrow morning.
The downside of mum’s mental acuity is that she wants to do things, so after a shower – which itself is a tiring prospect these days – I helped mum change her bed, changed mine, got out my gorgeously fluffy new throw, made a phone call, dealt with a couple of emails, cooked dinner, and am now wondering if I’m going to make it through The Repair Shop without falling asleep.

[While dinner was cooking, the combination of a brief but very heavy rain shower and some brilliant sunshine produced a huge, beautifully clear rainbow that mum and I spent quite some time admiring before it slowly faded.]
Dinner was a lazy pasta bake: tricolour pasta, a jar of tomato and garlic sauce, some roughly chopped cheddar, and some grana padano, all stirred together, dumped into a baking dish, and topped with more cheese before being baked. Mum said it was “really good”, making it the first two Mum-chelin star meal in some time.
Tomorrow I really must wake up early to call the doctor, then do something about all the items on my to do list that git usurped by changing the beds today. The DWP has sent me a questionnaire to fill in to show that I’m not fit for work, but my main concern is that I wouldn’t even have time to fit in any work around everything else I have to do.
It’s a shame that pot of gold from the end of the rainbow didn’t land in our garden.
