Cheese and ham kiev, tempura carrots, salad
I’m writing this in the hope – more than the expectation by now – of being interrupted by the arrival of an out-of-hours doctor. We were told they would be with us within six hours, and that was five and three quarter hours ago.
You may gather from that that mum hasn’t been well, or to church, and you would be right on both counts. She spent most of the day in bed, holding her stomach, occasionally sobbing, occasionally asking why she hasn’t seen her friends and what has she done to upset them, and had she mentioned that her stomach hurt?
She finally started really feeling better about an hour ago, but I’m not going to cancel the doctor as I just know we’re going to do the same thing all over again tomorrow morning.
(As a very minor plus, I got several hours to work on my novel, which now has parts of three chapters, a table of contents, and… that’s about it. Not bad for a few hours’ work, though.)
(And I have just realised that I’ve been so busy worrying about mum that I forgot to take my afternoon dose of painkillers, which explains why I’m in pain atm.)
Dinner was a bit of a “what have we got in the house?” job: some cheese and ham kievs from the freezer, tempura carrots from Tesco (very tasty, as battered, fried things usually are), and salad. Mum ate most of hers, to my relief as she had barely eaten anything all day.
So, there we go, another day over. I hope tomorrow doesn’t include another early awakening, or any more pain or anxiety for mum.
And here’s the doctor. Perfect timing!
