Pesto vegetable pizza and salad; apple crumble and ice cream

Another day, another bus ride, this time to the local branch of Tesco, which houses a Post Office, where mum went to post my BIL’s birthday card while I negotiated the loan of a ride-on trolley from the Customer Services desk. One thing I failed to consider is that you don’t get lessons in driving the thing before you’re let loose on the store and its customers. I’m keeping this pot short as I’m utterly exhausted, so I will just say that, by the time I got to the till, I really needed mum’s reassurance that “you’ll get the hang of it with practice”, and note that a supermarket has a surprising number of things to crash into.

I will also note the kindness of an older gentleman who heard me ask mum to pass me something off a higher shelf and, not realising I was talking to someone with me, started reaching for the item to help me. Thank you, kind sir.

In the afternoon I did the meal plan for next week and placed the associated grocery order, so I have something to write about next week, then “cooked dinner”, by way of sticking a ready-made pizza in the oven, then taking it out and replacing it with two pots of ready-made apple crumble.

The pizza was just OK, with a base that made me wonder if I’d accidentally cooked the cardboard base instead of the pizza, while the crumble was decent for something that came in a plastic pot from the ‘reduced to clear’ section. Mum declared both courses to be “yum”, so that’s all good. Now there will be chocolate, then The Repair Shop, and finally – thank goodness – bed.

But first I’ll pick a stock photo that vaguely relates to this post, then hit ‘post’. Who knows what we’ll get?
