Buffalo mozzarella and tomato pizza, garlic bread, salad

I will keep this short, as a day spent in far too many fruitless phone calls, far too much being shuffled from pillar to post, and far, far too much sitting around waiting – and far too little (i.e. no) eating at the hospital restaurant1 – has left me unsurprisingly weary.

Mum was delighted to see me home, despite me having been out for only a few hours, which almost made the whole thing worth it. Which is a good precedent when I have to do it all again next month – the joys of chronic illness. 🙄

Dinner was, thankfully and deliberately, very easy: a Tesco Finest pizza (I would prefer pepperoni, but mum doesn’t like it so cheese and tomato it is), a frozen garlic bread stick from Iceland, and some salad – which took the most effort as I had to pick around the dreaded radicchio. I added some sour cream and onion dip as a salad dressing, as I had forgotten it was in the fridge and it needed to be used up.

The pizza is actually pretty good: nicely crunchy base, flavourful tomato sauce, and some good mozzarella balls and sundried tomato. It’s a good one to have in the freezer for cba nights, if I remember to order a new one to replace this one.

Afterwards, in desperate need of something sweet, I had the rest of yesterday’s fruity flapjacky pudding, while mum had the last of the coffee cake.

Now I have my usual post-dinner decaff coffee – a habit I gained in hospital and am happy to keep – and the promise that tomorrow I can sleep later into the morning than I did this morning. Night, all.

  1. I was told that Patient Transport would be in to collect me from the waiting room, so I waited, and waited, and waited some more, not daring to leave to find food for fear they would come to get me and found me missing, which would put me back to the end of the queue. An hour and a half later I finally got to the front of the queue and, stomach rumbling audibly, asked if we could stop at the restaurant on the way out so I could grab a sandwich, but the answer was sadly no. ↊ī¸Ž
