A trip out; spicy pepperoni pizza; chocolate melt-in-the-middle pudding and custard

As I mentioned yesterday, today was my first trip out of the house since I came home from the cate home in mid December. It was fine: I made my way to the car, and from the car to the cafe, safely, had a cup of coffee (decent, in a pleasing improvement from last time I went there, when the coffee was barely drinkable) and a piece of millionaire’s shortbread while chatting to mum and a couple of her friends, then sat in the car and watched the rain while mum and one of her friends popped across the road to Tesco to see if they had any coffee ice cream in stock.

I’m very pleased to say they did indeed have some, although one of the pots has mysteriously emptied itself already. 🤷‍♂️

The afternoon was spent watching a series of quiz shows on tv and simultaneously being delighted as mum guessed answers correctly and frustrated as she talked over her concerns about Monday’s medical appointment for the umpteenth time.

After all that, I was in no mood to cook dinner even if I had remembered to take the chicken out of the freezer to defrost early enough, which I hadn’t. Instead I had an Iceland Luxury Spicy Pepperoni pizza, which was indeed quite spicy although rather light on both pepperoni and cheese, and mum had a chicken tikka masala ready meal from Tesco, which apparently was also quite spicy. I didn’t think to take photos of either, sorry.

I didn’t think to take a photo of the microwave chocolate pudding I had once tonight’s carer had been and gone. The pudding wasn’t particularly special – sweet and chocolatey, but not especially flavoursome – but the chocolate was what I wanted, and the sugar was what I needed to keep myself awake long enough to write this. 🥱
