Peanut butter sandwich, Graze Smoky Barbecue Crunch, apple
Just to let you all know, from now on my main meal of the day, and therefore the main review, will be in the evening. It is also somewhat lacking in photos, because I forgot to take one of my sandwich, although in the headline picture above you can see the little table I was given (well, allowed to borrow indefinitely – I can’t keep it forever) by the physio team: I briefly mentioned I would find it useful to take my care home table home with me, if it was lighter and more cooperative, and I was quite surprised when they produced exactly that from amongst the piles of stuff in the back of the car.
It has earned its keep today holding a series of cups of coffee, just like its care home counterpart; all except the first one of the day have even been full. (The first one I attempted to bring from the kitchen to my bedroom on the tray that is now attached to Zelda. It didn’t work very well, and I’m very grateful to mum for mopping up the results of my experiment.)
And so a review of lunch: the peanut butter sandwich was the joint work of two carers – mine ‘helped’ me get bread out to defrost (I say ‘helped’ because all I did was get the loaf out of the freezer: the carer did all the work of forcing the frozen solid block to separate into individual slices), while mum’s turned two of the slices into a sandwich (I didn’t ask her to, and was surprised and grateful when the sarnie arrived). It was very nice, and made me wonder why I haven’t had more peanut butter sandwiches recently. Then I remembered where I’ve been for the past few months, and realised that’s why.
Smoky Barbecue Crunch: still my favourite flavour of Graze snacks – it’s sweet and salty and smoky and crunchy and I’m impressed with myself that I haven’t (yet) eaten it all.
Apple: Royal Galas aren’t my favourite variety of apple, but it was crunchy and sweet, even if it didn’t have a great deal of flavour.
Dinner tonight will be my first review of supermarket food, which will be interesting for all of us. For now, I’m going to go and join mum in the living room for the daily tv quiz show marathon: with a bit of luck some of them (like the one on now) is a repeat, so I can look all clever by knowing the answers. Wish me luck!
