Cooked breakfast; roast chicken lunch, sticky toffee pudding
This will genuinely be a very short review because, as I mentioned on Facebook, I have a cold and really don’t feel great, but it seemed unfair to the kitchen here to not write at least something about a very good lunch.
I will start, however, with breakfast:

Mostly to note that this time the scrambled eggs were appropriately yellow rather than grey, and they could be eaten without my fork bouncing off them. I added a load of black pepper to the eggs, and some of my fierce chilli sauce to the ketchup, because when I have a cold I want things that are HOT!
It was very good, lots of protein, no dairy (well, a little bit in the form of butter on the toast, but that’s not going to do much), and if I would have ideally liked another slice of toast that’s definitely a want not a need. I had a pear instead, and that was also good.
As for lunch: roast chicken – nicely moist and well-flavoured. Stuffing – also well-flavoured (I apologise whole-heartedly if I’m wrong, but I suspect it came from a box, and there’s nothing wrong with that) and not ‘caramelised’ on the bottom like last time. Which would have been my first Sunday here, meaning I’ve been here for over a month. Time flies when you’re creatively relating your day’s activities to the physios to make it sound like of course you’re not taking careless risks because you can’t be bothered to wait five minutes for someone to come and help. 😬
Red cabbage – better than last week in that it had some flavour to it other than plain boiled cabbage, and not just because I covered it in loads of black pepper. Broccoli – almost undercooked, with a definite snap to the stems, which is how I generally prefer my veg. Roast parsnip – yum, as always; I’m looking forward to getting home so I can have a whole parsnip, or even two, all to myself. Roasties – good. Gravy – ditto.

Dessert was sticky toffee pudding with cream (not custard as I said yesterday) and somehow there ended up being a spare portion “if you’d like it?” Of course I said yes, and was glad I did as this was a superior STP: lightly spiced, with a slightly bitter quality to the toffee that stopped it being too sweet, and perfectly complemented by the thick cream.
Now I’m going to go and have the nap my OT keeps encouraging me to have, until I feel better or more cake appears, whichever comes sooner.
